Accessibility affects participation, safety, service delivery and the everyday experience of people with disability. An audit creates a reliable picture of current conditions before upgrades, budgets or project briefs are finalised. Depending on the agreed scope, the audit can review transport arrival, parking and set-down, ticketing, security screening, concourses, seating, hospitality, amenities, change facilities and exit routes. Relevant elements may include parking, paths of travel, ramps, stairs, doorways, circulation spaces, lifts, sanitary facilities, signage, tactile ground surface indicators, luminance contrast and service points.

Desktop and onsite audit options
For proposed work, ASN can complete a desktop access audit of drawings and documentation. For existing buildings or completed works, an onsite access audit records physical conditions and measurements. Projects can use both services at different stages.

Frequently asked questions
Can the audit include spectator and participant areas?
Yes. Scope can include spectator journeys, athlete or performer facilities, staff areas and other nominated venue zones.
Can ASN assess a venue while events continue?
Inspections can be coordinated around the event calendar. Some operational conditions may also be reviewed during a representative event if agreed.
Are temporary barriers and event layouts considered?
They can be. Temporary security, queuing, merchandising and event infrastructure can materially affect established accessible routes.
